Beautiful Creatures

I got on the hype and read Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. I am not one for jumping on the book hype wagon as I have had more disappointments that happy reading time. I will say for me in the case of this book that was not so. I actually liked it.

The biggest thing that I liked about this book that for a het romance it was written from the point of view of the man. OK in this case a kid in age but in life experiences not so much so. I know that here is a move that is based on this book and I did not want to see it at first. Then I read the book and thought why not. So, when the movie comes out on DVD I will watch it. Back to the book

Having lived in the south as a kid, from what I remember the authors got the whole everyone knows everyone’s business. The only thing I think missing from the setting of being a southern book is the sweet tea, and thank god that they did that. Sweet tea is nasty. But, that is not what this post is about.

I enjoyed the boys in the book Ethan and Link. I loved Link, he seemed very stoner hippy dude, not caring that his friend was committing social suicide. I have more respect for Link than any other side character. GO LINK!! I do want to find out more about what happens to Link.

I am going to read the next book in the series.
