I have no picture of the cover here I took it off the computer.
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova is not your regular vampire story. I loved this book, it did take me a long time to read it but the language of the book was so compelling that I wanted to stop and savor every word. It seemed as if each phrase was well-chosen just for that one task.
The book starts off with a page called “A Note to the Reader”. I almost did not read this part as I thought it was from the author of the book and not the character. From the first line of; “The story that follows is one I never intended to commit to paper”. I was hooked. I love history, and I love research so for me this book was perfect. I loved the descriptions of the libraries and the way that she described the cities that were visited made me want to go to the Eastern European country’s to see the art, and to try the food.
One of the things that I loved about this book is that it is a stand-a-lone book. There is not a sequel or five. That is so rare now that when I find one that I love it is more of a treasure than not.
I will be looking into reading the next book by the author. I know that she has one more out I wonder if she is writing a third book.
